Hi @KashifMisidia ,
Yes!!! I often travel around Vietnam and well-familiarized with many cities within Vietnam
. Let me know if you plan to come to Vietnam with your wife ![]()
Isn’t it interesting when you get to go to a new places, seeing by your own eyes and experiencing all the authentic local cuisines, cultures, languages, vibes, etc. @Katarina_Cibikova
May I ask how long does it take for you to feel and do like a local in a place you visit? ![]()
Selamat hari pariwisata sedunia.
@Katarina_Cibikova very nice and engaging post! you shared so much valuable content. I have to admit, seeing Mauritius on your bucket list made me smile… but in 5th place? ![]()
I think Mauritius could climb a few spots higher on that list! ![]()
Kidding… it’s already a huge compliment that my tiny island made it onto your bucket list with all those huge countries! ![]()
My answers:
1. Before joining the Local Guides program, what was your perspective on travel?
Travel was mainly about visiting famous places and relaxing.
2. How has your mindset shifted to become a true explorer rather than just a tourist?
I now enjoy discovering local culture, hidden gems, and authentic experiences.
3. When visiting a new city or country, how do you research its food, culture, history, and heritage?
I use Google Maps, Local Guides reviews, travel blogs, and recommendations from locals.
4. How does it feel when you meet people from other countries who speak different languages?
It’s exciting and enriching. Every interaction is an opportunity to learn something new and discover a different perspective.
Btw, I’m conversant in English, French, and Hindi ofc Mauritian Creole, and those 1st 3 languages have taken me surprisingly far so far! For anything beyond that, I guess I’ll have to rely on smiles, hand gestures, and my award-winning game of charades ![]()
5. What countries have you visited so far, and what are the top 5 destinations on your travel bucket list?
I’ve been fortunate enough to visit Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, France, Ireland, Germany, India, and even our beautiful sister island, Rodrigues so far.
As for my bucket list, my current Top 5 dream destinations are: India, Egypt, Switzerland, Italy, New Zealand. India fascinates me and is is still high on my bucket list. More than a vacation, I’d love to make a pilgrimage journey, visiting its sacred places and hidden gems to reconnect with my roots.
That said, if I had to choose just one ultimate travel dream as vacation, it would be a grand Mediterranean cruise ![]()
Thank you so much for your lovely comment, @SwetaDhondoo!
Haha, you caught me
!Mauritius is definitely a dream destination, and honestly, it deserves an even higher spot on the list!
It really is a paradise, and your descriptions of island life and culture make it sound so magical.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful travel stories and perspective , it’s so inspiring to connect with fellow explorers here! ![]()
