Are you a Tortoise or a Rabbit?

  • Of late, there was a lot of buzz on Connect regarding submission of application for the big event of CL 2019. Local guides kind of transformed to busy bees, preparing their stuffs for application. There was loads of adrenaline pouring in, much panic. The connection apps like WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter were being actively used for reaching out for help or helping others!
  • After all this noise settled, it came to my mind that the majority of LGs were nearly miserable trying to finish their work (& in a best possible way) in last moments; while there were very few who were relaxed, calm and composed, either helping & guiding others with their application, or not concerned with all that business and engaged in other activities of life.
  • All this wave of chaos was there because many of us initiated their work in the 11th hour. Although on announcement all such LGs were jubilant that this time they have full 60 days for submission of application. Everyone thought they will prepare best stuff and submit the app just during the first month! But I guess very few may have done that!
  • Question is why do we do that? Despite previous experiences of life, why do we leave things pending till the deadline gets uncomfortably close? Why we love to follow the Hare, the Rabbit of the Aesop’s fables, despite liking Tortoise behavior?!
  • This is a question that I don’t have the answer… because I am one of the biggest Rabbits myself. And I hate being one, because I have practically suffered a lot because of this, missing the flights and trains. Preparing near exams and therefore panicking & managing to bring desired results after much toil.

Such people often feel that they are very competent and they have been given a lot of time. So why not focus on some other important or enjoyable activities for the time being and do this task little later ?. They don’t even bother to keep an allowance for an unexpected event which can later hinder their work.

  • I desire myself to be a productive mix of both an easy going and competent rabbit and a steadfast tortoise with much perseverance.
  • Are you like a Rabbit or a Tortoise? Or a lucky mix of both?
  • Whatever kind you are, do you like it or wish to change it?

It seems like I’m a rabbit but I try to start as a torture, sometimes I end up metamorphosed. I do not really know why …

Wow very nice writeup. Enjoyed reading the whole and think who am I in real life. Well I am a rabbit in real life but particularly in case of connect application, I was mix of both and submitted my application well before time. And after reading the story I realized it’s best always to be a mix of both. Thanks for sharing.

@SaifIS If you have time guide me on how can I include links to some of my work at the bottom of my every post? The way you and many others are doing… I mean do you add them manually every time or these appear by a single or automatically? Maybe you have saved the whole bunch somewhere on your device & copy it at the bottom…

@GhazalaShah You can do this by using the signature feature of connect. To find how to add signature please browse through the solution by searching on connect.

Hi @GhazalaShah I much prefer to get things out of the way. I submitted my application very early on. Lots of people are probably busy thinking of the best way to do it but I think that you can suffer what is called “analysis paralysis” which will stop you making decisions until you’re in a blind rush at the end.

Just on a side note, the images you’ve used on this post are copyright. You should only use images you own on Connect. Copyright and plagiarism are serious. Please read How do I follow the original content guidelines on Connect?

Your own words and images are so much more powerful.

This is a very great post @GhazalaShah

For the instance of Connect Live 2019 Application Submission I was a tortoise and I am happy with that

Omg @PaulPavlinovich seeing your reply now! I think I took at least one photo from Wikimedia commons… & the other one from Google images… don’t clearly remember. I asked a few people & tried myself to access the Connect Library (I once read about) but couldn’t find a way. Had I known these images were not allowed; I would have chosen not to write this post. Is it possible to edit the post (easily ) for removing these photos and adding others?

Yes lastly :slightly_smiling_face:, you have habits which successful people have (I mean doing things early and be easy)

Hi @GhazalaShah you can edit any post of your own using the three dots menu and selecting “edit”.

I knew that option… but have heard (& experienced a few times) that it is not easy… painstaking. But I will definitely try for this post. Thanks @PaulPavlinovich

It is certainly an interesting experience from mobile @GhazalaShah but it works ok on desktop.

Can’t delete a comment published twice due to a misclick… so editing this way

Thanks respected PaulPavlinovich! I gave a try… a few times… I mean a real & sincere try. But the editor used to erase or write the text data, while it refused to budge a millimeter when I tried to erase or remove the images. I tried by selecting a photo (but then the keypad disappeared); I clicked edit sign at the upper right corner of the image but this took the screen down to show me Cancel and Save changes options. I wish to do a small course for being more literate in all this… but what course it should be: HTML…:nerd_face:? Guys…No laughter please… every one is like this before learning  @SaifIS
