Over the years, I’ve been very much a local foodie who enjoys the simplicity of the local food scene. While I’m not a huge fan of modern restaurants or cafes, I prefer eating at local places, like food courts, hawker centres and even simple coffee shops.
I’ve also noticed that over the last five to eight years, the trends have changed among the younger guides or general consumers, where many are easily attracted by Instagrammable locations or food decor without actually paying attention to the food quality. It’s like saying - “if it looks good, it should be nice”. Anyway, that’s one of the issues I have noticed among some of the younger guides nowadays.
Which brings me to this question - Are you a Google Foodie? Me, I can consider myself as one because I love to review the smaller food businesses, as mentioned above. They work hard, and some have been doing it for decades, but not much love is given to them. We should also focus more on reviewing some of these super-small vendors, hawkers, and businesses. Just sharing my foodie two cents with you all here.
