It would be cool to meet up and discuss which areas could get improved in Google Maps. I understand that usually downtown Minneapolis businesses will have tons of comments, photos, and ratings, but I am thinking businesses in smaller suburbs might not. Therefore, a meeting of enthusiastic local guides would be pretty cool.
Please let me know if anyone interested in meeting up.
I’m located in the East Metro, although I work in Minneapolis, I know the TC metro area very well and would be interested in a local guides meetup at some point as well.
I think I have been a guide for several years now - initially starting off just reviewing a place here and there and ultimately just loving google maps. I used to have separate lists for each city with all the recommendations of places and things to try out and I love that there’s new features now that make it ever easier. My first smart phone was also a droid although I don’t think they had their phones figured out just quite at that time as it would often crash on me.
I do not drive, so the suburbs would be difficult without carpooling, but I would enjoy establishing a regular meetup at various locations. It seems none of us live in the same area, so maybe we could take turns hosting in our neighborhoods to get our Local Guides knowledgeable of as much of the Twin Cities as possible. I have moved around quite a bit since 2005, so I know much of Minneapolis (Uptown, Loring Park, Downtown, North Loop/Warehouse, NE), some of St. Paul, and primary the Southern and SW metro. I did spend a year up north near 610 and 252 off Noble.
