After looking at numerous posts on the loss of points which resulted in the change of badge status from Expert to Novice, I did not see any posts that were the same as mine.
I am looking to understand why there are edits that I believe should be included under the Fact Finder badge that do onto get accrued to the total. At the end of July I had 84 out of the 100 edits required (in part) to move to Master from Expert Fact Finder.
Since then I have had over 25 different edits approved, yet the numbers posted to my account under the tracking for the Fact Finder badge show an increase of 10 not the 25 that I would expect. These edits include new businesses , business closures, change of hours , telephone numbers or addition of website. includes new businesses opening, other businesses closing, hours of business changing , additions of websites and additions of telephone numbers.
My query is why is there such a discrepancy between the actual count and the count that gets tallied for the badges? If you look at my total numbers you will see over 300 edits but last year in September time frame, I lost over 200 edits. That change I consider as water under the bridge, even though I was moved from Master to Expert level as a Fact Finder. But these missing points would put me back to Master Fact Finder.
Can anyone identify to me about what I can do or process to follow to get those points?
The badges do not update instantly they can take quite a few days - the longest I’ve personally seen was about two weeks.
Make sure you check the criteria for each carefully. It isn’t just about your approved edits, you also have to verify edits in check the facts and answer 250 questions.

@MashaPS I guess the response does answer the direct question about whether badges are offered or not, but it doesn’t provide an answer to the process involved in getting credit for edits that have been approved and no credit received, which was actually the point of my posting.
If in fact there is no process in place for people to get credit for actions done, I would think that it is an area that could be looked at. There is a sense of achievement in being recognized for your contributions and when the process for recognition has obvious gaps, it does make it a bit less interesting when work goes unrecognized. People respond to positivity in a positive way.
I understand your grievances @michael54 . I am facing the same predicament,if you take a look at my profile. I have a good number of edits and they are not accounted for under my fact finder badge. It’s been like that for months now and I can’t seem to get an explanation for it. Maybe it’s a technical fault or some edits are marked private those are some of the reasons I get. @PaulPavlinovich and @MashaPS is that true?
It’s not nice for work to go unnoticed, I know but I just take it as part of the game and move on. There are other aspects of Google and connect still interests me so I take solace in those and continue guiding.
Hi @michael54@SholaIB can you describe the kinds of edits you’ve made that don’t seem to be counted, how you’ve made them and show screen shots of the edits have been applied and a link to each place on Maps?
@PaulPavlinovich Yes I can pull that info and post that list here in Connect. To be honest, I cannot tell you which edits were approved and which were not, as there is a time lag between the time an edit is approved and the crime when points are added. I only noticed that not all edits were being accounted for when I made several additions over a couple of days and the number edits accounted for in the count remained stationery. Knowing the number was at 90 , and I was moving towards 100 and the number remained at 90 even after several edits were approved.
The edits that I have posted are change in hours for businesses, creation of new businesses, business closures, road closures, business name changes, phone number additions, and addition of websites. I will pull that list with appropriate links and post them today. Let me know if you require the entire list of edits (the number being over 100) or just those that have been made since 90, which will take me back to July of this year… Thanks for your interest.
I am sorry I can’t provide you with all that data because of time and chance #busy# but all am sure of is that on my profile I have about 448 edits but only 72 is recognized on the fact finder badge.
Moreover in the last 48hrs I have also done at least 4 approved edits yet the count on my fact finder badge hasn’t changed.
I think you have a small misconception in how points work @michael54 while the Map shows the flashy graphics and the points going up when you do things on submission, the actual points are given to you when the edit is applied. If it is not applied you don’t get any points. You may see a temporary increase in the App as it updates your local copy of the data but that will be replaced by the central data.

@SholaIB that means I cannot help you without specific instances so I can escalate for investigation. If I were to report, he look at this person’s profile there is something wrong with their edits I would be unlikely to be successful.
Just an update @michael54 just three or four that you think you didn’t get points for but that you should have will be enough - if you could cover why you think you didn’t get points for them and how you checked that would be good too please.
@PaulPavlinovich Thank you for continuing to look at this topic on my behalf. I appreciate it. What I have done is gone back to mid July which was when I started to take a closer look at the numbers. As I mentioned there is not one specific item that I believe that I did not get credit for because there is that time lag that you mentioned between the time one sends in the item, gets approval and the time it actually tallies . So what I have done is selected a screenshot of the tally that is date stamped July 28, 2020 . It shows 84 as the number of items that were approved edits. . if we accept this as accurate, then any approved edit should add to this amount. Next, I took screenshots showing edits since August 10 and numbered each approved edit until now. I realize that some of the later edits may not be reflected due to the aforementioned time lag. But as you can see the number of approved edits tallies 108. The number that I currently show as approved is 96, as can be seen above in the screenshot I took just before I pulled this note together. . Once again, I thank you for your interest in assisting me. @PaulPavlinovich It appears the latest tally did not get added to my last message, so here is the current totals for approved edits. The tally is 96 versus the 108 that I calculate based on approved edits.

The only thing I can think of is if some of your previously applied edits were later reversed. This is not something I can check and you would not be able to see it. I feel this is highly unlikely though.
Thanks @MashaPS it will be interesting to resolve this. These counters wouldn’t get checked very often except by someone actively trying to reach the achievement.
I have reached some time ago my Master on Fact Finder, but now the Edit go down to 93 (I have 149 edits according to my profile). I don’t know how or why this happened, i just want to know if this is normal or a problem.
@MashaPS@PaulPavlinovich Well something seems to be happening. I just checked the numbers and edits have been moved from 96 to 99 overnight. Thank you.
