I am planning my trip to Finland soon to chase Aurora Borealis and would be greatful if you could help me with some questions:
For example i am not sure if its better to rent a car or to use public transport on the way from Rovaniemi to Saariselka cause it looks like the distance is small, but i hardly see one bus per day between these two cities.
What would you recommend?

From Rovaniemi to Saariselkä it’s approx. 230 kilometers distance. In winter driving conditions can be very difficult from extremely icy to hard snowing. From Rovaniemi up to north, there is rural tundra area and wilderness. There is only one village between Rovaniemi and Saariselkä, so if something happens with your car, you are in the middle of nowhere. From Rovaniemi up to north, there is rural tundra area and wilderness If you are not familiar to drive with winter tyres and on winter conditions, I would recommend to go by bus. Though the bus is rare but is the safest. You can spend time in Rovaniemi/Arctic Circle/Santa Claus village while waiting the bus.
