The Architecture exhibition conducted by the College of Environmental Design is a popular annual event in the Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. Architecture students from all the reputed local universities will gather together and exhibit their innovative work in the field of Architecture. The exhibition in 2018 was held at a University Mall, to increase awareness of this field of study (architecture) among students. All the interested people were invited to attend this unique exhibition and learn the significance of Architecture.
During this exhibition event (2018), a beautiful dome-structure was placed in the center of the exhibition hall. The information board near this spectacular masterpiece stated the dimensions of this structure, which was 5m in diameter and 3m in height. The whole assembly of structure was built from 3 distinctive shapes cut from the plywood sheets. In total, 510 interconnecting fragments were used to form the beautiful dome. The design of the dome-structure was inspired from the work of Robert Clark (US Architect). All the plywood pieces were cut at a local CNC shop and was assembled by the students team at the exhibition hall.
Experts from the field of Architecture (Both from Industries and Academia) were invited to look at the works and provide their feedback on it. Overall, it was a wonderful networking session for the students to learn the valuable skills from experts and receive feedback on their works from the mentors.
