Anyone out there with a brain injury that caused them to become disabled?

I have a cranial AVM which, in short, is a tangle of blood vessels and arteries where I was born without capillary veins. Is anyone dealing with a similar disability? Or not so similar? I can’t do the things I used to do and hang out with friends that I used to hang out with. I’m interested in meeting people who can relate. Others who have trouble getting around. Others who are in PT and OT. Others who need to find new activities to enjoy. I’m sick of laying in bed and watching TV. I want to find activities that we can enjoy together. People who WANT to get better. I want to find a group of friends who cab relate and will continue to push each other to do more than we think that we can. Anyone interested or know someone who may be?

Hi @Juelzz ,

I’m sorry to hear about your situation, but it’s wonderful and very inspiring that you want to continue fighting!

Local Guides Connect is a place where you can find a lot of great individuals whose hobbies include travelling, photography, trying different cuisines, organizing meet-ups, etc. Does that sound interesting to you? If so, you are more than welcome to join the Local Guides community. To learn more about what this platform is for in order to make your experience here much more enjoyable and easier to navigate, please feel free to check the following articles:

I also want to add that I merged two of your posts into a single thread. This will help reduce clutter on Connect and avoid confusion among other members.

One last thing, since you are new in here, why not start by introducing yourself to the community? You can do it in our monthly thread.

Thank you so much @Nasir11 ! Healing sure is a journey. I am somewhat fed up with “Western Medicine” and starting to look into Eastern and hollistic approaches. If you (or anyone) have any tips or can point me in the right direction, please do.

Thank you @KlaudiyaG . I will be sure to read the articles. I pretty much know how Local Guides works, but I was hoping to find some people in a similar situation so that we could discuss the possibility of meet-ups. It’s not easy doing ANYTHING that I used to do, so I need to find a group of disabled people in NYC who might like to try out different events and such. I think it would help myself and others get back out there and start living again!
