Anyone else from/living in Finland?

Hi there!

I am a Local Guide in Helsinki committed to providing fair reviews for restaurants in the Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa, also discovering and promoting small restaurants worth visiting.

Most of my comments were written in Chinese, as that is my native language and can help restaurant owners showcase the diversity of their customers. (this is an experience I got through the talk with many restaurant owners, who strongly suggest customers leaving comments in their native language unless they have important feedback requiring the restaurant owners to read to improve)

I use a Rumia fumo (whoever is Touhou fan should know what is that) to prove I have really visited the place in the photoes of my review.

Hello @rumia welcome to the forum. I am planning to come to Helsinki this summer. I am curious about your recommendations.:folded_hands:

Considering there’s a translation feature in Google Maps, it’s totally fine to leave a review using your own language @rumia. I think you have the right approach and it’s good to hear business owners feel the same way.

Hello @rumia It’s wonderful to have a Local Guide like you contributing to our community. Thank you for sharing honest reviews and highlighting hidden gems around Helsinki, Espoo, and Vantaa. Writing in your native language helps showcase the rich diversity of customers and we love that you’re using a Rumia fumo as your adorable signature in your photos!

To be frankly, Finland is a boring place, and there are no much good food
If I have to recommend, I would say try local Sauna (there are always Sauna rooms in the apartment or house we live, so I don’t have specific Sauna place to recommend), visit local museums (most museums here are very small, 40 mins visit is enough for each, and Natural History Museum, Mannerheim Museum and the museums on Suomenlinna are good to visit) and galleries (there are many galleries in Helsinki and Espoo), also the old market in Hakaniemi (the one near the port is full of tourists, and you can rarely hear people speak in Finnish there, so not recommended). You can also visit the campus of Aalto University on weekdays (my university, easy to access through metro), the campus is huge and you can walk around to experience the student life there. (btw Restaurant Fat Lizard Otaniemi on campus got the best pizza I had in Finland, and “Gelatoria - Cafetoria” on campus got one of the best Icecream I had in Finland) If you want to try local food in Finland, I would recommend Restaurant Zetor or Ravintola Kolme Kruunua. (Finnish food is not that tasty overall I would say) Also if you are not from Eastern Europe, you might have never tried Georgian food before, in this case you can try it at Qvevri – they got the best Khachapuri in Finland.

Thank you @rumia I am adding these to my list. I hope I will be able to implement your recommendations one by one when I visit you one day.:folded_hands:
