Hello peeps!! With great pleasure, I announce my latest project: Local Guides Panel! :tada: :tada: :tada:

The concept is really simple. I invite three other Local Guides to join me for a brief discussion on anything related to the Local Guides program (including Google Maps, Street View, Road Mapper etc). Each participant is given 5 minutes and their own choice of topic. And the rest of the panel can chime in with their thoughts too. So, with 5 minutes of talk time each, we should wrap up within 30 minutes :crossed_fingers: so this is not one of my usual long shows! :sweat_smile:

The first episode is coming to you live this Saturday 3rd July, 2021 at 9AM BST (1.30PM IST, 4PM MYS, 6PM AEST). The discussion will be live streamed on YouTube on the Go Loco Podcast channel, the unofficial Local Guides Channel, Please subscribe so that you donā€™t miss out on any future videos/live streams. And once I have the link to the live stream, I will post it here so that you can RSVP directly on YouTube. The stream is now set up and the link is now active! Whoop! Whoop! And to welcome you to the first episode, Iā€™m super excited to announce my following guests: @AIMAN_SAEED , @JanVanHaver and @PeteMHW ! The line-up is chosen to give you a variety of opinions and experiences within the Local Guides program. As this is my first episode, Iā€™m expecting lots of technical hiccups :scream: so I decided to choose all my guests from similar regions and nearby!

And here are our topics for Episode 1:

  • :woman_singer: Aiman- Aiman is going to chat about the Local Guides program, her experiences with it and what drives her to contribute. She recently moved to Germany so weā€™ll find out how and if thereā€™s any differences in her contributions since.
  • :woman_singer: Jan- Jan, being the master of Maps, is keen to chat about the latest announcement by the Local Guides team with regards to Check the Facts! Whatā€™s changed? How does it affect Local Guides? Well, letā€™s see what the panel thinks!
  • :woman_singer: Peter- Each year, Connect Live is arguably the highlight for most Local Guides. With the cancellation last year and this year, what will the future of Connect Live be? Looking back on previous years, Peter will delve a bit into it and ask the panel what makes it special!
  • :woman_singer: Adrian- Itā€™s Connectā€™s 5th Birthday on 15th July and Adrian will go through some of the fun celebrations that are planned throughout the month. Weā€™ll find out what the panelā€™s thoughts are on Connect, reflecting on the past and looking ahead to many more years in the future!

During the live stream, we will have the live chat available so please feel free to drop in, listen to our panel and also share your thoughts, opinions and ask questions. I will be looking actively at the chat window to pick out any interesting comments and mention them during the show.

I hope to make Local Guides Panel a regular show with each live stream scheduled for the first weekend of every month. And future episodes may have their format tweaked slightly based on feedback. :bulb:

You may have also noticed the ā€œHappy5thBirthdayConnect!ā€ badge in the cover photo! Thatā€™s right, this first episode is planned to be part of the first wave of unofficial Local Guides events to celebrate Connectā€™s 5th Birthday in a month long extravaganza! We have made a few posts already:
