ANNAPURNA CONSERVATION AREA (ACAP)

Area: 7629 sq.km. ; established: 1986; altitude: 1151m on the Modi Khola to 8191m at the top of Annapurna I.
Location: Lies in the central Nepal north west of Pokahara.
Flora: 1000-15000m: Hill sal forest to dry south slope
1000 to 2000m; Schima - Castanopsis forest on north face
2100 to 2700m; Oak forest both on north and south faces
2400 to 3000m; Acer osmanthus, Cerylus, on north-west slope.
Fauna: includes Mammals – Snow leopard, Blue sheep, Asiatic black bear, Red panda, Yellow- throated marten, Jungle cat, Barking deer, Ghoral etc; Avifauna- Danphe, Satyr Tragopan, Kalij pheasant, Koklass pheasant , Blood pheasant, Cheer pheasant etc.
Cultural Heritage: Gurungs have inhabitat the Modi valley originating from Tibet. They have combine their Buddhist belifs with Hinduism.
Other interesting Places: Mt. Annapurna – i ( 8091m) the 10th highes peak inthe world Fand (7647m), Annapurna (7551m), Gangapurna (7455m), Khangsar kang(7485m), Annapurna south (7219m), Machhapurchre (6933m).
