I found this sculpture, during my brief visit to Apatin (we had a business meeting in a nearby village of Sonta). The sculpture’s name is Anja and it represents a gray heron. It was made by Nikola Smiljanović, a sculptor from Novi Sad. It is over 8 meters high! The sculpture is facing the Danube river (second largest river in Europe) and ‘greets’ people that are sailing on it. It is located nearby the town’s harbor which is the first harbor in Serbia for all those that are entering the country by river.
