Andringitra is one of the 42 Madagascar national parks. In 2016 I had the chance to visit this beautiful place located in the center of the island. This park is mostly known for its mountains which host the highest humanly accessible peak of the country named Imarivolanitra or Pic Boby. With some friends we decided to organise a 3 days trail to explore the richness of the park. It turned out to be one of the best travel experience of our life.
The trail was about 30km long. Most of the circuit was about climbing stairs and the goal was to reach the peak at 2600 meters. No human activities are allowed inside the park appart from hiking. In addition to that a very few number of tourists visit the park every year hence Andringitra was left perfectly clean and untouched.
At the end of the ascent we ended our trail in the beautiful valley of Tsaranoro.
We arrived at the peak Imarivolanitra after 3 hours of climbing from our sitecamp.
In the middle of the travel, after one day of walking we needed to recover and spent a night in our site camp just close to the mountain.
We met some chameleon along our way
And some wild purple flowers
The weather was partly cloudy when we entered inside the park which made the ascent easier because the sun can be scorching in this region of Madagascar.
Hope that you enjoyed this writeup
Peace.
