Dear Fellow Guides,
Welcome to this post and to the voluntary move of rectifying the Google Maps which are used by billions of people throughout the globe completely free of charge.
I have scrutinised the Map of my area and noticed many mistakes and faulty information which may mislead the users of this map. Reasons may be many and we probably know them.
I, therefore, request all guides to not to post any information before the information set is prepared in terms of name, its spelling, photographs etc. If this is followed further mistakes will come down.
For the existing errors, I most humbly invite all local guides to first identify the errors at the local level and then point them out to the authority using the existing tools. If in a particular small region, the correction is initiated by you probably substantial portion will be solved.
And finally, I propose to arrange a meeting among the area wise local guides to spread and implement this initiative.
Hope, this will be of great help for the cause, as we are doing everything voluntarily to serve the needs of the Google Maps users.

Hi Everyone!
This post is written with a view to raise one issue for consideration of all concerned. Recently, I found a post about a park in our locality. This is yet to be developed, a proposed one. But the google map is showing its existance. In the same place actually there is a very small resturant which will become a part of the proposed eco-park after it actually comes into being.
In this case, the said information may be somewhat misleading. Hence, information presenter should be careful about presentation of the information after due verification.
Also, I think there should have strong mechanism through which editing function will be performed. Otherwise, strangers will be misguided, particularly when the place in question is at a thinly populated area.
Hope, appropriate authority will consider it with due importance.

Types of error reported by many may be summed up as: i) errors in Names; ii) Spelling mistakes; iii) incomplete/ wrong address; iv) pictures of different places etc.
In this respect, some local guides have raised this issue. The problem reported is correct in some cases.
But my proposal is that there is option in the Maps to correct the errors. Local guides may use the appropriate tools to crrect them.
Please use the tools that are readily available .

In continuation of the above post, I beg to report that probably it would be necessary to take serious steps on the part of the Google authority to make the maps correct in all respect. Because, presentation of erroneous information by Google will affect their reputation.
Hope, appropriate persons will consider this proposal.

Hi @shantanu-kaizen it is always required that all Local Guides only post accurate information, sometimes people do cheat this in the quest for points and add duplicates or sometimes its because they cannot see something on the Map and instead of searching they just add it.
Everyone needs to adhere to the Maps User Contributed Content Policy.

Hi @shantanu-kaizen thank you for your concerns about information on the Map it is something we all share. However, Iām going to merge your near duplicate posts on the topic to keep Connect tidy.
Hi@PaulPavlinovich
Thanks for your suggestion.
As you are associated with this initiative more than atleast me, you can manage the things in a better way.
I can only identify the errors,if any, and report the same to the authority. And yes, I shall go through the document as per your suggestion. Regards.

Hi Everyone
This is to inform you that I tried to find out errors in the Google Maps in respect of my locality, district and neighboring places. I found, our fellow guides from Bangladesh were correct
Hi Everyone
In continuation of my last report I like to inform that I pointed out some 30-40 errors and suggested necessary corrections. Hope, the authority will take appropriate actions to rectify them.
Best wishes to all.

Good points made for cleaning up the maps as much as possible. Thanks!
Keeping this 3-point quality philosophy at the back of our minds when looking for abberations in maps will help:
- Right the wrongs
- Better the rights
- Create the new!
Cheers!
Hi@Noimacki
Yes, you are right. But at the rectification stage we can point out the error only. Indicated errors will be rectified by some other person probably.
About the next two steps again as individual we hardly can become adequately effective unless the authority allows us to do this job in a group. Thanks for your suggestions. Best.
