I’ve always liked to read other people’s reviews and learn about their experiences, I really respected the people who would take their time to help future comers. They were super helpful to me and I never went anywhere new without checking it’s reviews first.
One day someone gave me this crazy idea:
-Why don’t you contribute as well? You can become a local guide!
-A what now?
Since that day in 2017 I’ve only gone deeper and deeper into the program, writing reviews I’d like to read, uploading the photos I think can be the most helpful. I believe it has opened my mind in many ways, since I can now honestly say I’ve become much more aware of the things you can do to help others, like pointing out small details that make a huge difference to people, writing reviews that include relevant information about accessibility, dietary restrictions or preferences.
Attending several meet-ups I got to discover a lot of amazing places near my city, some of which I was completely unaware of!
One example is the recently visited mind-blowingly beautiful Villa Ocampo residence in Beccar, Buenos Aires.
But I think that one of the greatest things about being a local guide is when you get together every week or so with your fellow contributors. Those couple of hours when you participate with your local community, improving the map, sharing tips, getting to know each other, welcoming new members and overall having a good time with everybody, it really gives you a motivational boost to keep posting, writing, uploading and sharing with the conviction that you are a part of something awesome!
I’m always going to be grateful to that person who first suggested I join this program because she introduced me to an exciting world =).
