@WilfriedB@TerryPG@AdamGT
Hi all, figured i would tag some of the usuals. Anyone is welcome to chime in. I just did an experiment to test a theory I had about hidden photos. It did not work, but the idea i thought interesting enough to share. I believe we touched on this idea a few months back.
I decided to go through all of my photos by date order, and hunt for those which had NO ADDRESS listed. I am not sure how this happens to photos, but perhaps maps removes the location, then resets it, and those photos original tagged to that location show up with no address. I found around 50 of mine attached to no address.
What did i do? I deleted them all. I thought perhaps these might be hidden photos. I deleted approximately 800,000 views. I did not care since i was trying to find out if this theory worked. It did not! So 50 photos gone, 800k views gone, but i thought it worth trying.
Funny thing…when i went into incognito mode, to check, i gad somehow managed to lose more photos to being private. I think i started with about 135 hidden, now around 160 hidden. Lol. Maps us very frustrating sometimes!
From my understanding, @StevenBerlin your first conclusion was correct: Google or more likely a user deleted a place and it appears to you now as “Unknown Place”.
According to my experience however, it doesn’t necessarily mean those were all hidden photos. Some yes, but not all of them.
I’m not clear in my thoughts as to this, but any deleting I’ve done has been based on zero-views or low counts on photos. Did your photos with No Address (or Unknown Place) actually have very high views? Losing 800,000 views over photos that didn’t need to be deleted was probably not the best course of action.
Well i have a ton of views, so i didn’t care about that. Like i saide, i was more interested if this would remove private photos. I really thought it would and seemed odd to leave photos in maps that had no address or nit attached to a business. A few of them were over 100k views, but since i removed 40 or so, it was around 800k. I feel good about my idea, but i didn’t work. That’s ok though.
My count of hidden photos and hidden reviews is usually so low that I don’t worry about it, but with everyone writing posts about it, I still read and try to understand.
Sorry couldn’t copy whole text. I have not heard back adam. I was able to open this stats page but it was an acknowledgement only, jowever now when i load the maps data your stats data overrides the page, and there is no way to get to the data fields?? Is there an update going on.
Negative. This is what happens when i simply go to Maps Data to try to enter my stats, like usual. When i go vip lounge says i cannot use it, must be a Vip, level 10 user. @AdamGT@WilfriedB
Sorry @StevenBerlin it seems, neither @AdamGT could imagine, you are not at VIP level 10 yet
Just explore the leader boards to reach that level quickly
@StevenBerlin@WilfriedB Remember that a quick way to do this is to go to the VIP Lounge tab and hit the first item in the list which is VIP Check. This will give you a list of links to all the unread Leaderboards which you need to read to qualify for VIP10 status in the current month.
I am sorry all. I am bad at this tech. I will explain one more time, then perhaps i am just not suited for all this…
I have gone to those links. Clucked them. I have also participated in lots of those pages as u all know. So lusten carefully here. When i simply go the maps data page, which i have done probably over 100 times… all i get is stuck with the following screen. Therefore i am unable to add maps data, when i click the green knowledge button it brings me the ladt screenshot i submitted. A page drawn ontop of the maps data page. Right now, maps data is stuck right here. I am tired of not being able to do simple things.. sorry!
@StevenBerlin did you click on the blue button “announcement_acknowledged”? After you did so, you need to wait a short time. It just took 30 seconds for me, but “mileage may vary …”
