Ambassador for top-quality & service-oriented gastronomy

Hey there,

I am rather new to the local guides community and wanted to share my passion for this amazing project that Google started. I live in Vienna since 8 years and moved around quite a lot in the city, spending more than 1 year in 5 different apartments and districts of the city. While this gave me quite a good overview of things to do and places to see, I still feel that most people always go to the same 20 locations as they are well-known and recommended by locals or the tourist office. As an explorer type of person, I decided some years ago that I want to get to know more of the city and started looking out for more unknown places, bars, restaurants, clubs, cafés that are not mainstream. What I experienced was an endless amount of hidden spots that deserve much more attention than many of the long-established touristy hotspots. Among these are the “Pita Box” - the Kebab place around the corner with the nicest owner in town, the “Cafe in der Burggasse 24” - a little hidden coffee place with 5 meter high rooms and a unique indoor design or “Tiger” - a mini Vietnamese restaurant with an amazing curry dish and super friendly staff.
I got to know all these places and I felt they needed to get more attention and deserve more buzz. That’s why I started leaving reviews on Google, describing in detail why these restaurants are a “Must-Visit” for anyone that comes to Vienna. And based on my statistics I can definitely see the effect of people looking at my comments and going there and the gastronomy being thankful for my recommendations. That’s what makes Google Local Guides so interesting to me. It provides extreme value to cool places & potential new visitors while at the same time fulfilling my wish to support small local businesses. Win-Win-Win Situation for all.

- hope I made my point, feel free to leave comments with your favorite, hidden spots in Vienna that should be a Must-Visti!
