Amazing View from the Tallest Observatory in California: OUE Skyspace LA

Observation Deck is one of my favourite destinations while visiting big cities, such as New York City (Amazing View from NYC Symbol: Empire State Building), Chicago, Paris, etc., so how can I miss OUE Skyspace in Los Angeles? Like many other observatories, OUE Skyspace is a great place to enjoy views of the city. But what makes it different from others? I think there’re 2 things. First, it has both open-air and indoor space (which isn’t that special since many decks do have both). What’s nice is that their open air area is amazingly cozy with resting chairs and sofas. And the second part is the slide. Yes, they have an all-glass slide on the 70th floor! Sounds exciting, or more like scary? The good news is that the slide is fully enclosed. Before the ride, I was a bit nervous that it might be terrifying. But it wasn’t! The slide isn’t very long so everything happened pretty fast. Before I realized that I was on a glass ride, gravity already caught me.

Back to the real question, is it worth a visit? OUE Skyspace isn’t the tallest, nor the fanciest among all observation decks I’ve ever visited, and Los Angeles isn’t really a metropolitan-like city so the density of skyscraper is rather low compared with some cities on the east coast. However, it does have its own charm and is a great place to chill with family or friends, enjoying the nice Californian weather and sunset!

Where is it?
69th and 70th floor of U.S. Bank Tower (entrance on 633 West 5th Street), Los Angeles, California, USA. Notice that the building itself is an office building. They have a side entrance for OUE Skyspace LA visitors.

How much does it cost?
Adult - $25, Child (3-12) - $19, Senior (65+) - $22. Also, Skyslide Single Ride (Ages 5+) - $8.

They have a cafe and a bar to sell beverage and alcohol on the 69th floor.

When to visit?

Skyspace is open every day, hours are from 10 AM to 10 PM; the last ticket is sold at 9 PM.

My friend and I arrived pretty early at around 3 PM and stayed there until 5:30 PM since we wanted to see Los Angeles under daylight, afterglow, and city lights. We were fortunate that the weather was good that day and we had a great time there.

And finally, the picture time!

Have you been to Los Angeles? Where’s the best place to see the view of the city you live in?

Hi @ChanneLing ,

Apologies, our filter had caught your post as a spam so I’ve released it and it’s now live to everyone. You can have a look at Why was my Connect post marked as spam just for your curiosity.

Nevertheless, you post is amazing! The Observatory looks so cool, did you try the slide? That looks scary, but also exciting! :slightly_smiling_face: How long did you explore? Is the bar nice or is it too expensive?

Thanks a lot!

Wow! The views are awesome @ChanneLing I liked the night views with awesome lights and building around. Can I know the device you took the photo from @ChanneLing , also did you click these photos with a tripod or just with hands.

I wanted to share some photos taken by me in Pashupatinath Temple, Kathmandu night during night time. I hope you will like it @DanniS .

You will see a huge crowd of people in the photo here, it’s because of the evening ceremony called “Sandhya Aarati” at Pashupatinath Temple every day.

Namaste,

Niraj

Hi @DanniS ,

Thank you for the comment and the help! I will note it and make sure not being marked as spam next time. By the way, I have a question. When a spam marked article is released, will it be published on the latest timeline or on the timeline it was first posted?

Yes, I tried the slide. Before that, I was pretty scared, but I found that it’s actually not as scary as it looks like. Everything happened very fast and before I could react,I was landed lol. Definitely nice to try if you’re curious.

My friend and I stayed for about 2 and a half hours and left for dinner. From my observation, most visitors spent the whole afternoon there, some even stayed till the evening. I didn’t try the bar but some people did. I assume the alcohol price there would be a bit higher than the usual price, but the view and the atmosphere’s wroth it.

Hi @NirajBhusal ,

Thank you for the comment and sharing these great photo with us! I’ve always wanted to visit Nepal. By the way, you said there’s “Sandhya Aarati” ceremony at the temple every day. Does that mean people’d go out and gather in the temple every night? Or do people go sometimes?

I always take my mobile phone (still iPhone 7 then) with me to take pictures while traveling. Just me and the phone since I don’t have a tripod (I wish I have one though). Do you have one?

That looks awesome @ChanneLing !

Wish I had known it was that beautiful because last week I was in LA and the price honestly scared me off a little bit.

Hi @Stphn ,

Thank you for the comment!

Yes, the ticket of observation deck is quite expensive (not only OUE Skyspace LA but I think all skyscraper observatories). Every time I have to tell myself it’s a once in a life time experience so that I could give them my money lol.

@ChanneLing I enjoyed your post! OUE is on my list, but I’m not sure if the time will allow us to get there. At least we will try to manage it.
