Observation Deck is one of my favourite destinations while visiting big cities, such as New York City (Amazing View from NYC Symbol: Empire State Building), Chicago, Paris, etc., so how can I miss OUE Skyspace in Los Angeles? Like many other observatories, OUE Skyspace is a great place to enjoy views of the city. But what makes it different from others? I think there’re 2 things. First, it has both open-air and indoor space (which isn’t that special since many decks do have both). What’s nice is that their open air area is amazingly cozy with resting chairs and sofas. And the second part is the slide. Yes, they have an all-glass slide on the 70th floor! Sounds exciting, or more like scary? The good news is that the slide is fully enclosed. Before the ride, I was a bit nervous that it might be terrifying. But it wasn’t! The slide isn’t very long so everything happened pretty fast. Before I realized that I was on a glass ride, gravity already caught me.
Back to the real question, is it worth a visit? OUE Skyspace isn’t the tallest, nor the fanciest among all observation decks I’ve ever visited, and Los Angeles isn’t really a metropolitan-like city so the density of skyscraper is rather low compared with some cities on the east coast. However, it does have its own charm and is a great place to chill with family or friends, enjoying the nice Californian weather and sunset!
Where is it?
69th and 70th floor of U.S. Bank Tower (entrance on 633 West 5th Street), Los Angeles, California, USA. Notice that the building itself is an office building. They have a side entrance for OUE Skyspace LA visitors.
How much does it cost?
Adult - $25, Child (3-12) - $19, Senior (65+) - $22. Also, Skyslide Single Ride (Ages 5+) - $8.
They have a cafe and a bar to sell beverage and alcohol on the 69th floor.
When to visit?
Skyspace is open every day, hours are from 10 AM to 10 PM; the last ticket is sold at 9 PM.
My friend and I arrived pretty early at around 3 PM and stayed there until 5:30 PM since we wanted to see Los Angeles under daylight, afterglow, and city lights. We were fortunate that the weather was good that day and we had a great time there.
And finally, the picture time!
Have you been to Los Angeles? Where’s the best place to see the view of the city you live in?
