Amazing opportunities in Santiago - Chile

After finishing the text, I felt I needed to come back here at the top to let you know this isn’t a very detailed and specific review on anything in a profound way. I might do that in the future, but I just couldn’t hold myself from letting you know about our feelings and first thoughts about places we went. =)

When I started planning for my honeymoon, Google Maps helped me to get focused on where I wanted to go in Santiago - Chile. It was very fun to sat with my fiance and plan all the buildings, parks and museums we wanted to visit. We gathered all the information from all the places and then, created a list of “want to go” and it was fundamental to the trip success.

So I’ll share some photos with you all!:

The Hotel we stayed was very close to parks as the Cerro San Cristóbal Park, we got much time to appreciate this view (see pic bellow). The History behind that day is the surprise we had when taking a cab to a near by restaurant. We couldn’t use Uber because city regulations do not allow it, so we needed to take a regular yellow cab. We the driver first saw us he already asked if we weren’t from Chile, as we talk he changed the fare rate and every 100 meters we drove the fare calculator were going higher and higher. When we get to the destination - it was like 5 minutes after the beginning of the ride - the fare was near to 296,000 .00 Chilean Pesos (CHL) (it’s 493.00 USD; 1,131.00 Brazilian Real) - this is more than the minimum wage in Brazil! I promptly said, you know this fare isn’t fair - I only have 20,000.00 CHL for you (29 USD; 117 Brazilian Real) and he said that 20.000, was all right. I felt extort once I noticed that I paid less than 20.000,00 CHL to go the airport… Well, shame on you Santiago taxi drivers.

When we got to the Azul Profundo, we were really sad about the experience with the scheme cab driver, but right way the restaurant atmosphere really captivate us, we got involved on the menu and the beers selection was very refreshing to encounter this place and be amazed by the food taste.

Every night when we saw ourselves close to each other and so far away from home (the green flag on the map). And it was amazing to know that a good experience can happen because other people had been given their opinion and their evaluation on places. Still so far from home and so near to the Local Guides Community.

So there we were on a Wednesday night. We found ourselves with a very very sticky laziness, so we just crossed the road to go to this 4.8 star Google Maps rated German restaurant and again we`ve found great food and nice choices of beer. Life is so good when you don’t want to go far, there is a bunch of reviews encouraging your idleness.

There are many many places like the “Paris-Londres” neighborhood, but none are the actual place at the heart of Santiago. It makes you want to sing, to record a melancholic video clip.

From every corner Santiago has this amazing snowed mountains landscape, you don’t need to actually go higher to enjoy it, but when you do… Oh My Gosh, it’s amazing!

Another must go places is the Bulnes Square, the whole area is surrounded by public buildings and museums, make sure to take a few pics there, enjoy this great city atmosphere.

One of our greatest expectations when planning were to get to play on the Farellones Snow Park, it has great reviews and awesome things to do. We got crazy on the snow, made a little snow fellow man, went full velocity on the sleigh, and laugh out loud on the doughnut sled.

So all the good memories probably wouldn’t be so great if weren’t for all of those good recommendations on attractions as museums, from good food to amazing views. Thank you Local Guide Community fro making every human being experience the world in the right way.

I see you on the next trip journey, stay tuned, there are more to come!
