Sweden celebrates the beloved waffle on Våffeldagen (May 11), the United Kingdom celebrates burgers on National Burger Day (August 27) and Japan celebrates its Gyoza on National Gyoza Day (September 20) but am I right that today, February 9, is National Pizza Day in the United States?
But wait a minute! On the third Friday of May the US celebrates National Pizza Party Day, on September 5 it’s National Cheese Pizza Day, on September 20 it’s National Pepperoni Pizza Day, on October 9 it’s International Beer and Pizza Day, and two days later on October 11 it’s National Sausage Pizza Day, and then, on November 12 it’s National Pizza with the Works Except Anchovies Day lol. It seems to me that every day is pizza day in the US. What do you think?
Your post increased my enthusiasm - so searched in Google - some interesting updates are:
Gerry Durnell, the publisher of Pizza Today magazine started observing National Pizza day from 1984. Some even celebrate Pizza Month during which they consume different types of Pizzas and/or visit different pizzerias.
So there’s a Pizza Today magazine as well? Oh dear me @TravellerG And Pizza Month? Don’t get me wrong as I do like a good pizza and we do have them every now and then but certainly not every day lol. I so often wonder who creates these celebration days and if there is some vested interest in doing so. Indeed it is an interesting topic!
Hmmm interesting @user_not_found so February 9 is National Pizza in the UK as well. So your local pizza takeaway is one up on them all and offers 50% off all year round lol. Yes one can’t help but become cynical about all these celebration days but isn’t it amazing that February 9 appears to be National Pizza Day in more than one country?“Read in the Bathtub”, “Pizza in the Bathtub” and “National toothache” day hahaha, oh how you made us laugh here
