Alternative to Google Streetview

I take 360 photos with my ricoh thetas. I used to upload via streetview but streetview is retired. Streetview studio is only good for editing 360 video. Im trying to blur out objects such as cars, people and the tripod of the camera in the panoramic photo; not video. Any knowledge of an app that does this.

Yes @Dalster56 there are several applications available that allow you to edit and blur objects in 360-degree photos. Here are a few options:

  1. Adobe Photoshop: The latest versions of Adobe Photoshop (CC 2018 and later) include a “360-degree” editing mode that allows you to edit and manipulate 360-degree photos. You can use the blur tools in Photoshop to selectively blur objects in your photos.

  2. Snapseed: Snapseed is a popular mobile photo editing app available for both iOS and Android. It offers a range of editing tools, including a selective blur tool that can be used to blur objects in your 360-degree photos.

  3. Fotor: Fotor is a comprehensive photo editing app available for iOS, Android, and as a web-based application. It offers various editing tools, including blur effects that can be applied to specific areas of your 360-degree photos.

  4. AirPano VR: AirPano VR is a specialized 360-degree photo editing app available for iOS. It allows you to edit and manipulate your 360-degree photos, including applying blur effects to specific objects.

When using these apps, make sure to choose the appropriate editing mode or tool that supports 360-degree photos. This way, you can maintain the spherical nature of your images while blurring out specific objects.

Simon, You are the truth. I’m in contact with Ricoh technical support and I’m forwarding this extremely useful information to them. Thanks for this information.

One final Simon,

Once editing the 360 photo with a 3rd party software it may lose its GPS information which is core critical for local marketing. Can I edit the longitude/latitude in the photo details?

Dear @Dalster56

Yes, you can edit the longitude and latitude information (GPS metadata) in a photo using various software tools. By updating the GPS metadata, you can ensure that the location information is accurate and preserved even after editing the photo.

Here are a couple of methods you can use:

  1. ExifTool: ExifTool is a powerful command-line tool that allows you to view and edit metadata in various file formats, including photos. It supports editing GPS metadata as well. You can use ExifTool to modify the longitude and latitude values in the photo’s metadata. The specific command to modify GPS metadata would be something like:
exiftool -GPSLongitude="New Longitude" -GPSLatitude="New Latitude" "yourphoto.jpg"

Replace “New Longitude” and “New Latitude” with the desired values and “yourphoto.jpg” with the actual file name.

  1. Photo editing software: Many photo editing software tools, such as Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom, provide options to edit metadata. You can use these tools to update the GPS information of your photo. In Photoshop, for example, you can go to “File” > “File Info” and navigate to the GPS section to modify the longitude and latitude values manually.

Remember to make a backup of your original photo before modifying any metadata, as incorrect changes can result in inaccurate location information.

Please note that altering the GPS metadata in a photo does not change the actual geolocation of where the photo was taken. It only modifies the metadata stored within the photo file.

So like why aren’t you working for Google? Lol. Priceless information. I’m actually going to use a practical use sextant to add long/lat to photos and videos just because.

Uploading 360 photos to Google Business Profile via Google Maps with the GPS information lost, defeats the purpose of Uploading and using Google Business and even Bing Places For Business. Thanks for your information.
