Allocate Panoramio photos to places

Perhaps this has been discussed before, but I can’t find a thread related to it through search.

Is there a way to allocate former Panoramio photos to places in Google Maps? Most of my photos were linked to a place in Panoramio, but now they are just tagged with coordinates and are not linked to any place in Google Maps.

Hi @SorenS I’m sorry, if the migration process wasn’t able to link an image to an existing place, there is no way to do this now.

You can’t move images between places or re-link to places when they lose the link in your contributions.

Only 360 images can be moved from a place to another using SV App.

Is this already the long awaited final result of the migration process? I don’t get it. Aren’t photos, that aren’t linked to actual places completely useless in Google Maps? (and am I correct to assume, that even though google promised otherwise, they simply reset all panoramio view counts, instead of transferring them?)

I can understand your thoughts. The panoramio migration didn’t worked as expected. About view counts I don’t know how it worked; i had few panoramio pictures and are buried under more than 10000 other photos, it’s hard to find them…

That’s unfortunate. But thank you for the confirmation. I would be interested to hear if the Maps team has any plans to adress that. I guess no, but one can hope.

When it comes to the view counts from Panoramio photos, I think they are lost for good. The Panoramio migration definitely didn’t go as I had hoped…

Edit: @Obslord Yes, the photos are pretty useless now and will probably never show up anywhere anymore.
