All Saints (Anglican church)

Here is a link of All Saints Anglican Church, Umuahia

Hello Local Guides, Do you have a Church named All Saints in your locality?

Here in Nigeria, All Saints Anglican church is widely located in every state of the country, my best All Saints Anglican church is All Saints Cathedral Onitsha it is the first Anglican church in the South Eastern part of Nigeria and the church is indeed a monument because it predates Nigerian Independence.

All Saints Anglican Church is first established in 1855 and since then, it has grown widely worldwide. Normally, Anglican Communion names churches according to the names of Apostles and Disciples like you can see Churches names as Saint Stephen’s Anglican church ,Saint Paul’s Anglican church etc. But All Saint Anglican church I guess encompasses all the name of the Apostles, who are now Saints. What makes it unique is that there is only one All Saint Church in a State but in one state you can find two or three Anglican churches named after St John.

Anglican church is part of the Orthodox churches worldwide, unlike Roman Catholic church, the Anglican Priest or rather Reverend must be married before ordination.

P.S. This is my part of #monthlytopic of July initiated by Local guide @HiroyukiTakisawa which its theme is a Religious Building or Monument. Here, in this post All Saint Cathedral Onitsha is a church that is both a Religious building and monument because it has a lot of history associated with it.

I hope you find this post interesting. ?

Have a Nice Day!

Best regards.

Hello @Austinelewex . The church is modern and very beautiful. Thanks for sharing information about the name " All saint Church " I didn’t know before now that only one exist in every state.

I cannot say whether is good or not that Catholic priest don’t get to marry.

I believe Anglican must have their reasons for insisting on priest getting married before ordination.

Thank you for commenting on my post @Emmik20

Yes All Saints Church Umuahia is modern style. But if you check the link I shared about the first All Saints Cathedral in Onitsha, you will get to know it looks more like monument. It is the church I am referring to though I haven’t had a Sunday service inside the church yet. :slightly_smiling_face:

Pertaining to Anglican Reverend getting married before ordination, I guess it is because of marital infidelity.

Have a great day!

Best regards.

Hello @Austinelewex

That’s another good and detailed post. Thanks for sharing it on connect with us. I know all saints church in Yaba in Lagos and some other ones. I haven’t noticed all saints church here in Ghana. If I walk across one I’ll definitely share it here.

Talking about Anglican/Catholic,History had it that Anglican is a break away or would we say subsidiary of Catholic so it’s not surprising that the doctrines are just a step above the other.

It’s nice to see you dressed in that attire as well. Is that a south-south attire? Rivers and Bayelsa natives dress like that.

Lastly your shots are great man keep it up.

Cheers

Thank you so much my friend @SholaIB

Yes, you are very right, Anglican broke away from Roman Catholic. That is why we are called Protestant.  is a long history.

Pertaining to the attire, it is no a general Nigerian attire. You should know that we are dynamic set of people. :face_with_hand_over_mouth::face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Do not be surprised if you see me putting on a Agbada .

Thank you for the compliment and your useful comment.

I wish you find an All Saint church in Ghana soon. Will be waiting for you to share your post about it here on connect.

Oops…:face_with_hand_over_mouth::face_with_hand_over_mouth::face_with_hand_over_mouth: 555 @Ant_Bad_Yogi

In the lower part of the collage, look clearly you will see a foam covered with a red cloth, it is hard to see because of it is in the same color with the floor tiles ( i dont actually know what is called Maybe saddle). That is the place were we knee down to receive Holy Communion . Holy Communion is an important tradition in the Christian faith. According to the bible, Christians, partake of Holy Communion in remembrance of the body and blood of Jesus that was broken and poured at the cross.

You can read more about it from the link I shared. :slightly_smiling_face:

Best regards.

@Austinelewex wow!! This post is so great. Amazingly I grew up worshipping at All Saints Anglican Church G.R.A Enugu and till date it still remains my family Church as my family still worships there. Conincedentally, my hometown church is also All Saints Anglican Church Nibo, Awka - South L.G.A Anambra State :joy: :dancer: amazing right?

I have once visited the All Saints Anglican Cathedral Onitsha and indeed I was befuddled at the beautiful edifice there. Asides the church building, it also has a primart school and parsonage building (those are the ones I noticed). Maybe i should make a post to contribute to this topic as well. Thank you for tagging me.

Pertaining to diverse African or Nigerian attire, I hope we do it soon. Though I am not a fan of virtual meetups. I love real meetups.
