Whetheryou are young or still young of heart, taking a ride on the Glacial Express from St. Moritz to Zermatt is an experience of a lifetime. The train we took departed at 9:00 AM so we stayed the night before right across the street at the magnificent Hotel Waldhaus Am See. Boasting the largest stocked cellar of whiskey, magical views of Lake St. Moritz, your stay comes with breakfast and will get you to the train without worry. Once on board, the next seven hours, seated most comfortably in a largely glass enclosed train, you are wined and dined as you take in the breathtaking Swiss countryside. As you travel through the Alps more and more snow becomes visible and our landscape transformed into a winter wonderland in our final destination of Zermatt. Zermatt is the kind of town where all the cookoo clocks have come to life! The fretwork, touches of red and white and dark wood tones against the pristine mountains of snow is nothing short of living art. The landscape of Switzerland will bring to mind the phrase, the land of milk and honey, but really chocolate. To sip hot chocolate near a fire ring with the crisp air enveloping you is just wonderful. And this is a very manageable trip, if planned ahead with reservations that everyone will enjoy and remember.

I love all things Switzerland, being half-Swiss myself, and having married a Swiss! I’ve visited many times, and lived there for a couple of years. It’s spectacular! I knew, just from your picture, that you were talking about Switzerland. Great review, and great inside tips!! I will be heading to Switzerland this summer and am actually going to Zermatt! Super excited about that!
Enjoy your trip. A friend just returned and to see the photos again was fantastic! Lucky lady!
