ALGORITHM ALTERNATIVE: ACCEPTING ANOTHER AGENDA

Location picture of United States Embassy @Abuja Nigeria Spelt as Sates

Rejection of editing endeavours could be frustrating sometimes based on the fact that the screening is not manual and so leaves machine algorithm to determine what gets accepted. I remember adding over 12 roads at Ikorodu area of Lagos, Nigeria and they were all rejected. I have seen the misgivings expressed by @sdkb @DenyDarko @Joseph95

@SerBennet amongst others having seen their edits rejected. I equally read responses from @MortenCopenhagen @Flash @geoosm @pip_net @JanVanHaver @ErmesT and others.

But from my experience there is more unknown and Google Map accepts that fact by stating “All edits are checked for accuracy by our moderation system. We can’t confirm all edits, and sometimes we make mistakes.”

This assertion removed my “frustrations” In the picture above “United States” was spelled as “United SATES” yet I tried correcting it but it was rejected. Even today I initiated another edit because I am sure States is not spelled Sates.

I work as a Pension Fund Manager and part of my work requires directing aggrieved contributors to National Pension Commission Office at South East Nigeria Regional Office at Awka. I tried creating this spot on the Map but it was rejected. Just last week, out of curiosity I tried again and it was accepted.

My advice to my fellow Local Guides, once you are sure of the edit please try Google Map Support Community for help. Google Map sometimes makes mistake even as we advocate for an alternative to algorithm.

The explanation may be much simpler than it seems @ogewuru , and the suggestion to try again, and again, could only lead to calling the Local Guide a spammer. An algorithm will not change an answer or its analysis if the suggested change will always be the same, and repeated several times by the same person.
The simple explanation is that certain categories, including public offices, banks, hospitals, are often and for various reasons victims of spammer attacks, for which they enjoy special protection, even if their name should be wrong.
In this case the best route to take is to submit the problem to the Google Maps Support Community, so that the problem can be escalated to an operator.
Trying again and again, as you suggest, might just result in having different edits classified as spam as well.
