Alentejo is a region of Portugal mostly famous for its agriculture. But from the historical perspective it played an important role during the period of Reconquista.
The region has many castles. The most popular are Castelo de Beja, Montemor o Novo’s castle, Castelo de Monsaraz, Estremoz’s castle, etc. At the same time Alentejo has “hidden” castles that are not very popular among foreign tourists: Moura, Serpa, Alvito, Viana do Alentejo, Portel, Sines, Santiago de Cacém, Mértola, etc. The main reason is a lack of public transport to get there. I managed to visit some of them, and here are my photos.

@ShpytkoOleh Sempre quis conhecer Portugal! Li muito sobre o país quando aprendia a língua português no centro de línguas. Obrigada por partilhar tão linda cidade
The castles are so adorable
I would love to visit them someday.
Is the tourist situation very bad in Portugal @ShpytkoOleh
We see on TV, local people are protesting against tourists to go back and not visit.
mostly they protest against airbnb as it doubles the rent in popular cities.
