Alaska - The Last Frontier Trip!!

ALASKA - Land of Glaciers, majestic mountains, dense green rain forests , deep valleys and true wilderness!!

My bucket list always contained visit to Alaska and I am grateful that I was able to check it off this year. Not sure where to start, but you have to visit Alaska to experience its true beauty with your own eyes… here pictures, videos and descriptions do not do justice. I would highly recommend visiting this place to see Glaciers before they are vanished due to global warming effects. Enjoy Alaska -wifi and worry free!!

We did a 10 day trip and following are few points/attractions which you can add to your next travel.

  • Eagle River Nature Centre -

    • Beautiful Stop on the way to Denali from Anchorage.
    • Has well defined easy trails with beautiful look out points
    • Do carry bear and bug sprays as its in middle of the nature and you can see wild animals
    • They have porta potty toilets
  • Eklutna Lake

  • Denali National Park

    • A must visit to Denali National Park - its your chance to see wildlife and experience the massiveness of the mountains and valleys

    • Book Tundra Wilderness Tour in advance so that you can commute inside the park as private vehicles are not allowed

    • Lots of Hiking , picnic places to enjoy - Hike trails include all levels

    • Definitely carry bug and bear sprays, some snacks and proteins bars if you plan to hike

    • Good Visitor Centre , Gift Shops and Restrooms available at the entrance of the park

  • Talkeetna Air Taxi

    • Highly recommend booking an Air Taxi tour to experience Glacier Landing
    • This is a very unique activity and can only be done where glaciers exists- so do splurge on this activity
    • We booked glacier landing tour from Talkeetna Air taxi and the experience was amazing and will always be remembered
    • Its usually a small plane where they fly you off and make you land on glacier where you can take pictures and enjoy the view

  • Kenai Fords Cruise

Some Travel Tips-

  1. If planning a trip in Summer, do book 4-6 months in advance as flights, hotels, attractions, car rentals all gets very expensive
  2. May - August are the busiest months and also rainy months, do carry layer clothing in Summer (rain jackets, vests, small jackets etc)
  3. Food scene in Alaska is super expensive as they have to import things - so stock up groceries, bread, jam, bars etc from Walmart, Costco in Anchorage and try to make your own meals whenever possible
  4. Weather in Alaska is super fluctuating so be ready with all types of clothing and other accessories
  5. Be prepared to enjoy, relax and have the best time… :slightly_smiling_face:

@AnujaPuranik Wow, your trip to Alaska sounds absolutely incredible…! The way you describe the beauty of the land and the experiences you had is truly captivating. I completely agree that sometimes pictures and videos just can’t capture the true essence of a place. Experiencing it with your own eyes is a must. Eagle River Nature Centre sounds like a peaceful and charming stop along the way to Denali. And Denali National Park seems like an absolute must-visit to truly appreciate the wildlife and the grandiosity of the mountains and valleys. The Kenai Fjords Cruise also sounds like a fantastic way to witness the wildlife and glaciers within the ocean. The natural waterfalls and Bear Glacier must have been incredibly awe-inspiring. It’s truly a magical place that offers so much natural beauty and wilderness. Your enthusiasm and recommendations have definitely increased my desire to visit Alaska. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and tips and list of attractions and points of interest. Happy travels…!

Hello, @AnujaPuranik

Alaska to me was a totally unfamiliar place. Three years ago I took English lessons from a teacher who lived in Madrid but grew up in Alaska. He taught me a lot about Alaska and now with your post I was able to read more about that fascinating country.
Thank you for sharing these beautiful photos and useful details for those who want to travel there.

Meanwhile it will remain for me a dream inside a drawer.
