The Polar Museum (the Museum of Arctica and Antarctica) in St.-Petersburg was one of my greatest discoveries last year!
Two floors of incredible expositions (Arctica on first and Antarctica on the second plus temporary exhibitions on the stairways) telling about nature in Polar circle, history of discovering the Arctic Ocean and polar expeditions (not only Soviet but worldwide) with photos, miniature ships, examples of plants, dioramas, costumes and much more.
The museum was founded in the 1930s and located in a former church. One of the most attractive artifacts is the plane that was used for polar explorations in 1930-1060s. Looks exciting!
I highly recommend to visit this place. Check the site or museum social media before visiting - they close for one day from time to time. But anyway, It’s in the city center, very close to metro station, if it’s suddenly closed you can just keep walking.

Maybe I’ll go there in May too.
The museum is really incredible, I think you’ll enjoy it. Check working days, it can be closed, especially on holidays. I tried about three times before I finally found their site and came. I think I’ll come again someday.
