Al ahsa in Saudi Arabia is one of the cities famous with special yearly event ( Group marriage festival) ocurring in several villages .Most people who are about to get marriage mostly participate in this festival ( affordable marriage ). The main purpose is to make it even more sociable and reduce expenses . The participants’ number varies each year, sometimes exceeded forty participants per village . This year number of the grooms in my village is twenty one. Not mentioning other villages’ numbers .
During marriage celebration guests from nearby villages come and eat ( Mandi ) . It’s a traditional meal made from rice and meat . Cooked underground using palm trees remains’ wood. This traditional meal is popular in the Arabian peninsula . In the other hand volunteers take parts in preparing , serving the feasts and even cleaning the area after guests are done eating! . Usually the Group marriage festival takes place in an opened areas like playgrounds or so to accommodate the huge number of guests invited . As the weather in Al Ahsa Hot in summer , cold in winter , spring is the best time for such a an outdoor events .Those areas usually decorated with numerous numbers of yellow lamps . Moreover special well decorative seats for the grooms .
congratulating grooms after done with the feast , guests are ready to watch some acting scenes , chants done by young kids or maybe doing some traditional sword dance . Meanwhile , a table set in a corner with free tea and coffee to drink with desserts like dates !
Eventually, marriage cost in Saudi Arabia is somehow unaffordable. This type of group marriage has contributed a lot and helped many to get marriage with affordable expenses.
