Advice on incorrect pin location and address on Google Maps

Hello everyone,

There is one very problematic GMB listing that is causing a lot of confusion and frustration out there with its incorrectly placed pin and wrong info in general. Since Google support is not cooperating, saying their hands are tied, I am looking for ANY suggestions on how to resolve this. The listing in question is:

Kennedy Space Center

Florida 32899, USA

321-867-5000

Up until February the listing featured the correct name (Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex), address, phone, and pin location when suddenly the information changed, and the listing managers were no longer able to update anything from the dashboard. It just went into some pending loop. Right now, the pin is located in a restricted area where visitors are not allowed (as a matter of fact, there is basically nothing where the pin is placed, empty ground), and relying on the information Google is giving them, they keep trying to access that area only to be redirected. Not a pleasant experience by any means.

Google support are saying they do not have manual control over the listing, so they are unable to make any changes. Suggesting edits does not work either. Between February and June, multiple verification attempts have been made (including video verification) without any luck. The verification goes through but the edits don’t.

Recently a new listing with the correct address (an address specifically chosen so that Google would accept it) was generated. That listing is:

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

405 Nasa Pkwy W, Merritt Island, FL 32953, USA

855-433-4210

Google is refusing to merge them as they “could not find same information on the duplicate listing after checking it thoroughly” which might be due to the fact that the “hijacked” listing featured the address SR 405, Kennedy Space Center, FL 32899 before it took a life of its own.

Both of the places are verified listing on google maps. You can update business information by log in to Google My Business.

  1. Sign in to Google My Business.
  2. If you have multiple locations, open the location you’d like to manage.
  3. Click Info from the menu.
  4. Click the section that you want to change, then enter the new information in the box that appears. Click the Xnext to the section you’d like to delete to remove it.
  • It may take up to 60 days to delete information you’ve previously added. Information that is also publicly available or from other sources may not be removed.
  • Business descriptions (editorial summaries or keywords from the web that appear next to your business) are not editable. Learn more
  1. Click Apply.
