Advice on approving road removal edit.

I’m trying to remove these non-existent roads here: https://goo.gl/maps/aPSgeiov71QotRzSA. As you can see from the satellite view, these are dirt tracks through open land, not roads. I happen to live on the real Sutallee Ridge Trail that’s less than a mile east of these false tracks. I have driven past the entrance to the dirt tracks, and it matches street view: there is a locked gate, and it is private property. I tried to remove the road, and the edit was not approved for the standard “we couldn’t verify” reason. I’m fairly certain it’s being automatically filtered because of some incorrect entry I made in the removal request. Is there a way to properly request this so that the dirt tracks are removed from the system? Maps still occasionally directs people to the dirt trails instead of the existing roads in the Sutallee Ridge Trail area.

Hello @TedAnderson

The road is visible in the satellite view. However, if that happens to be private or unusable, then I suggest you use the option - Send feedback → Wrong information -->Then “Select the road” & in the next pop up window report problem about the road. You can add a note here. A screen shot is as below

Hi @TedAnderson

If i see well the road you talk about exists, although i see some “incorrect” drawing in the area you could fix.

I believe this article is your answer https://support.google.com/local-guides/answer/2642650?hl=en

Best regards :grinning:

@C_T , @Stranger9 I think you are seeing roads because Maps already has lines drawn there. This is a large piece of private property, and what you’re seeing are dirt tracks the owners probably use with their four wheelers or personal trucks to traverse various locations. These are not publicly-accessible roads in any sense of the word. If you go here (https://goo.gl/maps/eMiYnm8hucBRhDYXA) and check the street view, you’ll see the alleged start of Sutallee Ridge Trail. It’s a big gate because this is private property, and not actually Sutallee Ridge Trail. I live on Sutallee Ridge Trail, which is the paved road approximately 1 mile east of the dirt tracks I linked to before. I can drive over there today and take photos to show that there are no roads at this location intersecting White Rd. How do I get this information into the hands of someone that will delete the roads? My previous attempts to report the error were closed as not verifiable.

Thanks for the extra information @TedAnderson

You dont have to delete the dirt road tracks, but you can change the name of the road “Sutallee Ridge Trail”. I saw the gate you talking about. It doesnt matter if its someone’s dirt track as long as its not an military base road or any sensitive establishment.Otherwise it can be edited with mosaic filter or blur.To finaly answer the question you can edit the road as private road through "add or fix a road"on the map editing “feedback form” on google maps app.
