Australia’s snowfields and alpine areas are often overlooked when it’s not ski season, however there is just as much to do – if not more when the snow has melted!
Lake Crackenback Resort is a 20 minute drive from Thredbo (a popular ski resort town) and around 2 and a half hours drive from Canberra. It’s a self contained area, with a restaurant, leisure equipment provided, small convenience store, day spa, and many other facilities.
We stayed in March (not this year due to the Corona virus), which meant the weather was cooling off, but by no means too cold. We kayaked on the lake, went bushwalking where we saw lots of native animals and birds, did some archery, had a BBQ, and went out to explore Thredbo, climb Mt. Kosciusko (Australia’s highest mountain) as well as lunching at Eagles Nest (Australia’s highest altitude restaurant) and in Jindabyne.
If you want a holiday full of outdoor activities, fresh air, and relaxation, this area of Australia is perfect for you.
