ADVENTURE TO LAKE PEPERUWA

At the sound of approaching local motorcycle transports, the village head and all the inhabitants mostly populated with young children came trooping out to the village square to welcome there unknown visitors.
The Head of the settlement did not reserve the expression of his willingness to offer his home to the unknown visitors, He was very disturbed that we had to stay in tents through the night under the heavy storm in the name of adventure.
They offered all they could to make us comfortable as much as possible. Freely, they offer there paddles and canoe for rides, freely they taught every willing members of our team how to row a boat. In exchange for a sum we had one of there he goats for barbeque and enjoyed a ride across to and from our next camp site.
The Name Peperuwa arises from a combination of two tribe I.e. Tiv and Hausa. Pepe {pronounced - paepae}(meaning morning) and ruwa (meaning water). Assaikio the nearest accessible town is located along Shendam road travelling from Lafia - the capital of Nasarawa state.
The surrounding areas of Peperuwa consists of Agatu, Tiv in angwan Zio who are predominantly primitive rice farmers and fishermen.
Other close villages are Tungan Nupawa of the Nupawa tribe and Tunga Huai consisting of Mada tribe. Tunga Huai literally translated Tunga accross, accessible via Assakio. Assakio is predominated with arlagu tribe.

Your kayaking experience will come handy in rowing a boat
A 4 x 4 or motorcycle ride for a distance of about 7 kilometers can convey you from Assaikio to Tunga Nupawa or Angwan Agatu via a dirt road - areas with very limited communication network.
