I recently submitted an edit for a place named Munjur Market (Maps Link: Google Maps) to change or correct its category to “Bank” (Agent Banking). Additionally, I want to emphasize that I have personally visited this physical location. It is very close to my current location, so I know this place thoroughly. My edit is based on firsthand, real-world experience, not guesswork. Currently, it is wrongfully listed under a generic category or “Shop”, which is highly misleading…
Dear @realsikto,
Bank categories can be edited only by bank authorities to avoid spams on Google Maps.
Hi @realsikto
You can’t change the category to Bank; moreover, Google may not accept any changes to Bank, ATM or any financial organization except the owner of the business. So please ask the the owner of the business to Add/claim the business and then verify your business listing so it’s eligible to appear on Search, Maps.
@realsikto
As explained already by @Rahul001 and @AbdullahAM , there are categories in Google Maps that are heavily protected against edit. The reason is that in the past we had many attempts of frauds and scam, so Google decided to accept that kind of edits only to the claimed owners of the listings.
That’s why the edits are rejected, it doesn’t really matter if you were there or not.
It’s not an issue with you, you did the right thing, but it’s deeply related to the protection of the users.
