Incentives and reward are major factors that keep a drive dream or passion alive. Without any of these, one tends to lose focus. With incentives or rewards, a dream or passion is rekindled.
The above is a truism and the main reason I still remain a Google local guide. Initially when I started learning Google and the different ways Google could be of help to everyone in any locality, I decided to add my school as a way of testing if indeed Google could help anyone in my local context( although I used a very bad camera then). Fortunately for me, I was rewarded with Google points and I was marveled. The following day I added more places and there I could see that many people are now using Google in my area. Weeks later, I got a call from someone just to say thanks for a review I made on Google that it really helped them to get what they needed on time. I was marveled to see that my work is helping people around through Google.
I remained a Google local guide till date - writing reviews, adding missing info about places, adding new places to the map answering questions about my locality, and taking pictures (the picture part is actually my fiancé’s favorites part, she can snap the whole town if you allow her. For her, there is no reason to write a review without adding picture. For her also , picture taking is another way of writing history of a place and taking records) - because I know and believed that somehow someday I will have more reward for my time and resources spent in helping people and the world to be a global village
