Adding places? Check this out!

Adding places is the most interesting thing I’ve done as a local guide.

I’m keen on photography and since I’m a local guide I’ve uploaded a lot of photos, I always take some photos to Google maps when I’m going somewhere. Usually when I get home I check if the places I’ve been to exist on Google Maps, sometimes I have the chance to create a new place.
As a Google Maps user I like to check what to expect from the place I’m going to and the photos and comments from others help me a lot.
I’ve been successful with most of the places I try to add but sometimes, for some reason it’s just not possible to confirm it and I don’t get the OK from Google. It happened last year when I tried to add “Carapeto”, an abandoned village (a few stone houses) lost in the middle of the woods nearby Fátima, this “village” had 15 to 20 habitants in 1758 according to old church books.

Some places I’ve successfully added are as follows:
• Head of Franz Kafka, a statue in Prague, Czech Republic, with 270.000 views
• Percurso Pedestre Serra da Lua, a walking Route with 5700 views
• Miradouro da Serra de Santa Helena, a Viewpoint at Santa Helena Mountain with 52.000 views
• Hortas Verdes, a Community Garden in Leiria with 27.500 views
• Lenea Cabeleireiros, a Hairdresser from a friend of mine, 21.500 views

I’m very happy with Google Maps network and very proud of being part of it. As I’m writing this post we are living the coronavirus pandemic, I believe that we all will understand the need to get to every corner of the world with information and Google Maps might have an importantrole.
