I have attempted to add several new places in maps when I see new business signage, some times the places are still under construction and some times they are nearly ready to open the doors for business.
I was told in another post (by a moderator) that the places that did not get posted were not posted because they do not exist yet, therefor they can not be added to maps.
If this is the case, I want to know if this is something new or has something changed?
Within the past couple of months, I have added photos of a business that was still under construction and those photos right this very moment are on Google Maps with the listings that SUCCESSFULLY got added to maps.The photos show the signage as well as the construction debris.
If you suggest an edit, it’s reviewed by either local operators, an automated system, or both to ensure the information is correct. If your edit is Pending, that means we’re still reviewing it. If your edit is not Applied, that means we were unable to verify the shared information.
Just to let you know I have relabelled your post to How-tos as this is the section of Connect where Local Guides ask questions about issues they might be facing.
We should add a place when it has started its operation or is about start soon and you know the date and put it n the opening date section. If you are not sure when it will go live you should not add it to maps.
Regrading your past edits, yes the maps does not know actually if the place is open or not. It approves, rejects or pending edit based on the things mentioned by @MortenSI . But not always accurate and we are responsible to submit accurate information. That is why it relies on us so we can provide accurate and up to date info.
Let’s say, you add a shopping mall which is under construction and it goes live on maps. And now I search on maps and find it. Then I visit the place and see it is not yet openned and is under construction. So do you think other users should face this problem?
I have had a similar problem recently when adding a new business on Maps. I actually drove by the business and confirmed the location and took a photo which included the business name and address number. I also confirmed the operating hours, phone number, website and the opening date.
Both times I attempted to add this business it was rejected because it was unable to be confirmed. I don’t know what more I can do outside of calling the business and telling them to add the business themself to Maps since they can manage the listing.
When adding a place is rejected can a feature be added to request an additional review or provide an option for comments?
