I understand very recent changes allow Local Guides to add places like roads and private residences, v. old limitations of public or government facilities. How can I add a whole section of one public street that runs less than 10 feet behind my own residence (which is also not recognized by gMaps for this precise reason).

@CluckeyJD Google Maps app and also Desktop Maps will allow users to send feedback on missing roads. Private residences and homes should not be added to Maps.
For missing roads.
Find the location on Google Maps
Go to menu > Send Feedback > Missing Road
Put the red pointer on the missing road (it will help if you switch to satellite view to see exactly where the road is)
Click Next, add the road name and put as much information as needed.
Send
This will go into a queue which will then be looked at. This edit should be also traceable from Your Contributions under Edits
