💡Add captions to photos on connect post-HOW💡

Captions on connect photos both on mobile ( Android ) and on desktop.

It’s always good to search the forum help desk or even the forum generally,if you have a question or an enquiry about anything on connect. There is a high probability, that a post, or a solution or discussion already exists about it. As the saying goes there is nothing new under the sun !!!

I wrote a post about **Photographs-Google-maps-and-Connect. **recently and I used relevant links and resources(Official and unofficial) that exists already on the forum. I needed to use a link to back up writing caption on post on connect photos and I couldn’t find any to my surprise. Now,there was a **Discussion/Solution **on caption which I appreciate and read. There are other bits and pieces of adding caption in photography posts as well which are nice. Now I’ll endeavour to explain as simple as I can how to caption photos on your connect post. Before I continue,I’ll like to mention that if you are embedding a photo from Google photos or any other source into connect,it’s not possible to caption them.

I’ll like to start with Uploading-a-photo-on-Connect-Read-these-guidelines-first As usual it should be a photo that you have taken personally mobile or proper camera or a photo you have copyright to use on connect. We avoid using stolen photos or photos that infringe or the right of the owners on connect.

Adding photo ls on connect it should be a photo relevant to your post as well. There is no ise talking about pizza and uploading a photo of a mango. There is simply no correlation between both !!!

Caption: What is a Caption? It’s a brief description of the components or what’s seen represented in a photo. A caption also includes the photo credit or copyright of whoever took it especially if it’s not originally yours.

A Googler once commented on a post of mine, "It is good to add captions to your photos on connect posts because it makes it more accessible to local

guides who use screen readers"

As local gudies that’s very important to us isn’t it? Talking about accessibility features :wheelchair: on Google maps and even on connect. We love accessibility conscious local guides and people. Kudos to all the accessibility champions on connect and worldwide. :wheelchair:

Writing caption on connect post photos using a mobile/Google chrome.

please note that using an ordinary mobile version of connect is not possible. You will need to go through Chrome on a mobile as seen in the photo.

  • First step click on the Chrome on your mobile
  • Navigate to connect and note the 3 dots on the top right corner of the page
  • Click on the three dot on the top right corner at the head of the page
  • Click on Desktop site to switch to desktop mode
  • Click on the post to be edited to add caption or start the normal process of start a post.
  • Add a photo and the caption column will be right below the photo.
  • please note the other tabs of
  1. Format
  2. size
  3. position.

You will need to choose how you want your photo to look like on connect. If you click on the drop down menu of size you will have small medium large. I often use large, but please feel free to choose whichever size you want-Originality.Position is if you want it centralised or aligned to the left or to the right. I often like the photo centralised. Again that detail depends on you as the author and owner of the post. Feel free to click whichever one you like. When all is typed and done and you are set, please click on DONE !!! Scroll down.it is located at the extreme end of the page.

N.B The Captions will not be visible or seen till the post live on connect. Also note that the screenshots and explanations are based on an android mobile and specifically samsung.

For the purpose of this post I have used the start a post option in the illustrations screenshot. Editing a post to add a caption is just editing the post and tapping on the photo that exists already on a post and follow the normal process.

Adding caption on a desktop

This is much more simpler and easier than mobile. It’s as easy as uploading the photo and the page to add the caption opens up. Then follow the same normal process as in the mobile. Don’t forget to always click done when you are done !!! Otherwise the changes or eidt will not be registered on the photo/post.

Any good suggestions to improve the post will be welcome. Just comment in the box below and tag me. I will be ready to make changes to make it better and more useful. Keep active and interactive on connect.

Happy guiiding

Cheers

I greatly appreciate the time and effort gone into making this :+1:

@SholaIB
