Add a Road

How long does it take to add a road to Google Maps? This is specifically relating to a new subdivision (about a year old).

Hi @PJ_Greer

It can take months. And even then it can end up not getting approved.

Google Maps has a program enabling local and regional partners to upload their data directly and automatically. Please learn more here: Google Maps Content Providers
Examples include municipalities and public transport providers.

You might be better off suggesting to your local municipality to become a partner with Google Maps and have them update the map.

Cheers

It’s not clear to me what exactly you are asking @PJ_Greer : How long does it take for new streets in general to show up Google? (The answer is, as so often: depends on quite a few factors, so: hard to tell) Or did you suggest a road to be added as local guide and are you still waiting for your edit to be approved?

In case the last question is not clear to you: local guides can also suggest that new roads are added by just drawing them on the map. Are you aware of that option? My personal experience is that such added roads are usually approved after a week or 2 if the road is clearly visible on the satellite image already.

Short answer: both. The road has existed for about a year (maybe more). I am also waiting for my edit to be approved. I submitted it at the end of April.
