Addi Sarbajonin is one of the oldest & renowned Durgapujas in Agarpara, Panihati, West Bengal. This Sabeki Barowari Puja, established in 1950, embodies the emotion, devotion and unity of this suburb’s middle-class residents. Our ancestors started this puja by collecting 1 rupee from each family, and all the people shared the responsibilities of the puja. As time has progressed, the number of people has increased, so their economic prosperity. At the same time, everyone has come forward to make the worship of ‘‘Addi Maa’’ more enriching. 2024 is marked as the Platinum Jubilee year (75th) of our Barowari Durga Puja. Our tradition: “Palki Bhasan”, a notable feature of our puja, still attracts many visitors today, since its beginning in 1960. Every year, as a part of our tradition, the clay idols of “Aadi Maa” and all her children (Lakshmi, Ganesh, Kartik and Saraswati) are carried from the puja mandap to niranjan ghat on the shoulders of the devotees of “Adi Maa”.
