My journey to becoming a Local Guide was unplanned and unknown. Last year in November, while visiting Islamabad, I happened to use Google maps for the first time in effective manner. Although I was in an unfamiliar environment, Google Maps never let me get lost. And it asked me my opinion about some particular place I had visited. And this is how I became a Local Guide
Firstly, it was about giving my opinion of every place I had been to, be it a restaurant, mosque, sports complex or even parlor. For a person who has thoughts about everything, sharing them with the world without even putting in much effort was a lovely experience. I just love how Google already knows the place you have visited, has its own questions and I give my uninhibited answers to them. But when someone asked some particular question and I answered that, I realised how helpful I have become for others with the knowledge I just got on the go. For me, this is the best thing about being a Local Guide, sharing my thoughts and seeing them being useful for others.
