Accessible travel for everyone!

When I have started travelling with my parents, we haven’t gone too far. The dream holiday destination for the merely post-communist Hungary - besides travelling to closeby villages and their rather still communist looking spas and establishment - was Greece. I remember the excitement of passing through new countries, even if our young mind was barely able to capture and process the war-stricken Balkan. The whole trip was organised by a travel agency and since there was no such thing as community feedback back then, we did not know that the beach where they took us is good for everything, but except for a holiday filled with relaxation and swimming in the sea. Luckily my parents could find other ways to make our holiday memorable, but ever since we know the value of information about travel destinations.

Not so many years later, I had my first trip rather alone - I was 15 and with a couple of friends we went to Lisbon by bus. The bus ride was organised, the rest wasn’t. We wandered off, and since it was long before the time of smartphones and the internet, we managed to miss the last metro and slept at the metro station entrance on the 29th of December. I am actually pretty happy that my family couldn’t get to know about this little wild night, at least I didn’t make them worried sick.

When I started university and moved to the capital, I stumbled upon a student association with 13 000 members all around Europe and this opened the world for me. The more we travelled, the more we wanted to see: more of the breathtaking nature, the beautiful cities, the life stories of different nationalities.

After the university, I could continue travelling and this is how #neveraweekendhome was born with almost 40 countries visited. I am lucky enough to take this to the next level and embark on a several-year-long journey around the world.

My passion is to help fellow travellers to facilitate the organisation of their trips - luckily now, with the help of internet and smartphones. I love organising our upcoming trip and the reviews, feedback, ideas and pictures from other travellers are giving me immense support to be able to reach any hidden part of the world and broaden my mind and horizon.

I do believe that people shall be supported to get to know the world which is full of wonders, let it be the next city, country or really a hidden island in the middle of the Pacific. I am committed as a Google Local Guide to support the travelling community with knowledge and ideas to bring the best out of their trip in a sustainable way by continuing the update of Google Maps with information, pictures, tips and tricks and by sharing stories and organising meet-ups along our road.

@ErmesT I wonder, can the comment (which is the post posted again it seems) deleted? Or do I see it well that it is a duplication? Thank you so much for your help!

Hi @beata_matuszka ,

Thank you very much for sharing your story! I love the first photo with the sign, because I often have the same feeling, haha.
