Accessible Jockey Plaza Shopping Center, Lima

Hello friends!

As you know, for some time I have been developing activities to search for accessible places in my community. Lima (Perú), in general, is not as accessible as one would like, that cannot be denied. However, there are some places that are making efforts to provide more options to people who need it.

Last week I visited the Jockey Plaza shopping center and found many interesting things that I would like to share with you today. Thank you @Jesi and @EmekaUlor for your constant support!

Parking lot
This shopping center is giant and therefore has thousands of parking lots. It is important to emphasize that they provide numerous spaces for people who need it, the interesting thing is that apart from the traditional light blue/blue space for people with disabilities, they have yellow-painted parking lots for women with babies, pregnant women and the elderly.

They also have large and bright visible signs to be able to park quickly. On the other hand, and very interesting. When entering the different parking lots of the mall, it is indicated how many free places are left for people with disabilities. As a result, people tend to use their time more wisely.

Wheelchairs and baby cars
This shopping center has several points (there is a map that clearly indicates them) where you can rent cars for babies and wheelchairs. It is totally free. People who want to rent it only need to show and give away an I.D. There is minimum renting time, you can use them as long as you want. It is also important to mention that this mall has only 3 floors and the elevators are spacious enough for wheelchairs to enter. That is a plus!

Lactation Rooms
This shopping center has fully equipped Lactation Rooms at various points of the existing wings. At least I could identify three of them that was perfectly marked. A very good option for women with little babies.

Well, this is the summary of the experience I had while investigating this mall. I think it is an interesting option for those who need or have relatives who require assistance. I have created a list of shopping centers in Lima on Google Maps that have these types of services: Most accessible Shopping Malls in Lima

As always, best of wishes my friends!

Hello, @marcorp

Thank you for introducing your country’s accessibility. The signs are easy to understand, a bit unique, and outstanding well.

Sharing each sign and situation will give a nice inspiration for us. I’ll share it as well. Thank you!

Hi @marcorp thank you for sharing this post, you did a very good job, and your photos are great, all the signs are clear. Most of your signs are not familiar with what we have here in South Africa, there are some which I have never seen my self before, meaning that there is a lot that needs to be done here locally. Cheers!
