How can we make our cities more accessible for those in wheelchairs?
Hi @khadijazmalik . Here are some examples of raising awareness on the accessibility topic:
Accessibility Uncovered
: Accessible Beaches
Meet Accessibility Champion, Muhammad
Accessibility Uncovered
: Fitting Rooms
Accessibility Uncovered
: Furniture
I hope reading them will give you some answers and ideas on how to make the environment more accessible. If you have more questions, don’t hesitate to tag me.
Hi @khadijazmalik you can add places with ramps and accessibility trail on the maps to help them move around easily or enlighten businesses in your community to provide special features for people with disabilities.
See this post for more ideas and activities by Local Guides.
Also read our weekly posts to learn more about accessibility.
Don’t forget that you can host an accessibility meetup too.
Cheers

In my opinion, we have to build the accessibility awaress first by posting about accessibility about our neighbourhood on Google Maps.
And then, second, we could arrange some photowalk by the theme accessibility. We take photos, we make reviews.
Hopefuly by doing this the local government could build the better accessibility access at our neighbourhood/city.
Hopefully… ![]()

Thank you!!!
Yes for sure. Its a fight everyday to make this world more accessible. My son is in a wheelchair and as I travel with him I get frustrated at the lack of accessibility. Many of the times we have to plan our trips to make sure, we are able to travel without too much stress
How do I add places with ramps etc?I would love to do that because whenever I am travelling locally of out of the city I have to call places ahead of time to make sure it is wheelchair friendly.
And then, second, we could arrange some photowalk by the theme accessibility. We take photos, we make reviews. would you like to help with that?
