Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA)

LASWA Yard, Falomo Jetty, Falomo Ikoyi-Obalende, Ikoyi 101233, Lagos, Nigeria

August 16, 2019 @ 09:00 (WAT)

Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) is the State agency in charge of regulating water transportation in Africa’s most populous city. As part of our One Accessibility Advocacy, we are engaging with the management to understand their operations and accessibility policy. Local Guides will have a guided tour of the ultramoden Five Cowries Terminal on the highbrow Ikoyi area overlooking the Lagoon Please, come with your phones, power banks, cameras and other gadgets. Dress smartly and please do put on your LG shirt if you have one. Optional: Boat Ride: If you would love to join us to see the major terminals & Jetties on LASWA Boat, then be ready to pay the sum of N3,000 only. The modern boat takes less than 15 persons. We hope LASWA and Local Guides will work to put all approved boat jetties on the maps and make them accessible for able and disabled citizens. Don’t Miss This Epic Meetup! Cheers

Hi @EmekaUlor ,

Thank you once again for organising such an interesting and meaningful event! I wish I could join you to help adding the accessibility information. I find your idea to add the boat jetties really good!

@KatyaL thank you! Oh, I wish you could join us. I am excited so are they agency too. They can’t wait to make presentations and let us know the functional jetties and major terminals along the Lagos waterways.

Because of the growing traffic in Lagos, more people are opting to use boat services but some people do not know where to board boats. So, we hope to get real information which will be added on Google Maps to help citizens use the waterways.

Most importantly, we find out their accessibility policy- is it inclusive? If not demand commitment to make it barrier-free for persons with disabilities.
