Accessibility of India- Accessible Gwalior

Hello LG and Moderator,

Welcome!

Today I am going to post about the most important topic of Google maps - Accessibility.

Accessibility is defined as the ease of access or ease of using something like Computers, smart phones, Cars features etc. But, In google maps language accessibility is defined as ease of visiting any place for a physically disabled person. By raising this point google, google started a completely new way of Helping others. Providing information about friendliness or adaptability of place for Physically Disabled Helps them to understand whether they can visit that particular place or not, whether the place has separate way for them, it has low inclined slopes or not, it designed for them or not. Considering these point I think of why don’t I start sharing to help them. So, I take my camera and start fetching for places equipped with disabled friendly equipments.

Accessible Tourist place in India (only which I visited so far)

Qutub Minar

Qutub minar is tower built by Qutub-ud- Aibek in 12th century. It is situated in the capital of India, New delhi. This Place is !00% adaptive for physically disabled person. It has Low inclination installed at every stair ways or inclined pathways.

Agra Fort

Agra fort situated in Agra is also a good place of accessibility for physically disabled persons. IT also has separate ramp ways for wheel chairs. But, the fort is situated at a height so there is a need for pushing the wheel chair to take person up to the fort. After that No need of push each place has ramps and inclined paths for wheel chair.

Currently I do not have a photo of Agra fort ramps but, I had visited this place and had seen ramps personally.

Accessibility of Public places of My City - Gwalior

Railway Station :-

Trains are the largest means of transportation in India. People in india usually travels by train because of cheap travel and because of high ticket prices of Air planes. The railway of station of Gwalior named as Gwalior junction is 100% accessible to physically disabled. It has separate low inclination ramps, Low inclination stair less platform crossing bridges, low windowed ticket counter or inclined pathway to ticket counters. Apart from these facilities, there are helper which we can hire to push the disabled passenger to the platform, and after that embark him into the train. They only charge 20-30 INR equivalent to 40 cents USD for there services.

Most of Railway station of Big cities in India have these facilities such as New delhi, Bhopal, Patna, Hyderabad etc. Also the metro train or subway in cities have separate lifts for physically disabled. Subway train has floor same as the height of platform to enter easily in the train.

ATM

Money is the most important thing to move your life we all know that, everybody need money include Physically disabled person. So, there is separate ramp walk for the disabled person to enter in ATM room.

Hospitals

Hospitals is need of every person in this world whether for treatment of disease, for regular check ups or for big operations. So, In my city what I found the biggest government hospital is completely equipped with ramps or low inclination path for physically handicaps and also Big size lift to take them to different floors.

Post offices

Post or courier things from one place to another i also important for person. He need to send money order, Important documents, letters etc. So, post offices also plays a essential part of everyone life. The post office in my city has separate low inclination path for entrance of physically disabled person to post there documents.

Schools

Education of a person is important to make him skilled and to get him a good job. Each person go to schools for pursue his education and physically disabled do need same. So, What in fount in my city that government schools has low inclined path for disabled student to enter in school or class. Schools also has disabled friendly toilets, parking and playground.

So As a conclusion what I found that most of the government building or place which is in daily needs of person is properly equipped with the physically disabled friendly structure. Also what I found our city is the best city for physically disabled person in India because of its intelligent and smart construction. So, proud to be a resident of this city.

I request you to when you post or upload a photo in Google maps try to take closer shot of accessibility of Place and also write some thing about the accessibility in your review and give it a hastags as accessibility #accessible

I hope this post will help peoples living in Gwalior peoples who wants to visit above two tourist places about the accessibility. Soon I will make a post of accessibility of parks, restaurants, malls for physically disabled person. If there any disable friendly place near to you, I request to post it, will help lots of person.

Keep sharing and from now keep helping.

See you till next post

Outdoor activity for persons with disabilities are always encouraged and motivated with help of community and friends. But places like you have mentioned @Sahilmsk2208 from historical and daily usage are excellent. This will let PwD to move around without less or required help.

What a wonderful post @Sahilmsk2208 :grinning:

I never knew Gwalior has put in so much effort for differently abled people.

Many many Kudos to you for sharing this wonderful post with us.

Just a small thing which I noticed is that whenever we think ‘accessibility’ we think ‘wheel chairs’…we should also try to find places where they have Pamphlets in Braille and audio aids for people to understand the true beauty of the place they are visiting. Also it will enable them to be more self-dependent.

I will share a video of a product which is very close to my heart and a truly unique approach towards helping the society and I am proud to be a part of this team and being able to give back to the society (in whatever smallest way possible), i live in.
