Over 65 million people need wheelchairs globally.* Many others struggle to get around. If we as Local Guides unite to answer accessibility questions , there will be nearly 2 billion answers to help guide all on Google Maps. There are an estimated 24 million disabled people in Nigeria. Like many other developing and emerging economies, Nigeria sees investment in services for the disabled as a luxury. As a result a great many people with disabilities are dependent on their families. Where no family is available to help, the disabled often are forced to become street beggars. In Nigeria there are almost no facilities for the disabled, no wheelchair access for street crossings or public buildings, and no special provisions for public transportation.(Cosmas I. OkoliThe Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship) While we are meeting to dine we’ll promote accessibility path awareness for people on wheelchairs in Kaduna and believe it should go a log way to help businesses and organizations, even government see the need for such provisions.
