Hi, I’m 6th level local guide from Ukraine.
One of my favourite task is accessibility questions. I try to answer these questions about most of the places that I visit. Unfortunately, today Ukraine is not really accessible country. Stairs, stairs and stairs. Stairs are everywhere.
I can compare with many countries where I have been.
Somewhere stairs are just useless and could/should be completely replaced by ramps.
Actually if you are young, healthy and childless you will not even admit that.
Somewhere ramps are useless or very difficult to use. They should be improved as well.
Now, when I have 3 children, I see that Ukraine should improve general accessibility very intensively.
Of course, all several new buildings, shopping centres, metro stations are equipped according to new standards, but still old one should be upgraded.
I believe that Google maps and local guides are some of the instruments to influence business. I try to focus my reviews on accessibility of the places (such as entrance, seating area, and parking). I recommend other local guides to do the same. It helps visitors to pick up correct locations and also influence business owners. They can see imperfections and try to fix it. Step by step our country will become better.
