- The Lockdown is easing up in Ghana now and it has been possible for us to go out to different places which is good. Since becoming more active on connect and Google maps, I have been noticing how very scarce accessibility features are, not only in Ghana but maybe in west Africa as whole.
" In 2006, the Persons with Disability Act (Act 715) was passed, this made it mandatory for all public places to
be accessible to the disabled in Ghana. Notwithstanding this provision, most buildings remain disability
unfriendly" Author Gavu EK.
I love @ermest Accessible venice post. A well planned city with different notable accessibility features. That surely is a nice thing to see.
Why have I decided to write this post? I have been to some fast food and supermarkets this weekend and I love the accessibility features I saw.
We only hope there will even be more of these features that the continent and countries in Africa can also advance. Of course kudos to the different accessibility champions on connect we hope their labours will be well rewarded. - The second thing I noticed in my brief travels around this weekend that’s worth mentioning is the precautionary measure and sign around as a result of Covid-19. As we know the spread of Covid-19 has been quite slow in West Africa and perhaps partly due to the hot tropical climate or even the awareness. Nevertheless there has been alot of hand washing places around and large scale sales of hand and sanitizer around. I also noticed signs like:
At this point will like to make reference to
@ewaade KEEPING SAFE TOGETHER-COVID 19 INCENTIVES. She mentioned in her post how to operate financially and even maintain the safety measure in other words handling less or no liquid cash.
Knowing all these also helps in writing reviews for certain eateries or malls or supermarkets which in turns helps their buisness. Be on the lookout for these as local guides, keep safe keep sound.
